Rants, Recipes and Ramblings

Medal of Honor Recipient Master Sergeant Roy Benavidez

Last week at the Phoenix Sigma Chi Alumni Chapter dinner our scheduled speaker canceled at the last minute.  Our Treasurer brought an old inspirational VHS tape and we played that instead.

I offered to convert the tape to DVD so that it would be both easier to play as well as being able to better preserve the material.

Added some content to the end and made this flash file.  Enjoy and be in awe that Men like Master Sergeant Roy Benavidez walk among us.

YOU CAN NOT BE A BETTER AMERICAN, LOVE OF COUNTRY AND LOVE OF ANOTHER MILITARY GI THAN WHAT HE LIVED BY THAN THIS M/SGT.
GOD LET HIM WALK YOUR STREETS FOR HE SUFFERED ENOUGH AND I BELIEVE YOU FOUND A GREAT PLACE FOR M/SGT ROY BENAVIDEZ ALONG WITH THE REST OF OUR GREAT MILITARY MEN AND WOMEN. GOD BLESS OUR MILITARY AND GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY.

Dave, thanks so much for the posting. Roy and I were at Ft. Bragg together and met again later in Vietnam. Without a doubt, I would not have made it home alive had it not been for the attitude that he was able to instill in me. I have lived my life following the simple rules that Roy lived by. Believe in God, believe in yourself, and JUST DON’T QUIT!!, no matter what, JUST DON’T QUIT!!!

Dave great video! My brother and I have been looking for this video for several years since seeing it at basic training. Would it be possible for you to email me this video? Thanks

This is just outstanding. I had the pleasure of meeting Roy Benevidez in 1972 when he was the guest speaker at the dedication or Hero Street Memorial Park located in Silvis, IL. Hero Street is a Mexican community that lost more military men(eight)for a street of its size in the entire United States. I definitely would like a copy of this DVD. In return I would like to send you a DVD(three documentaries on one DVD)of Hero Street USA. Please contact me by email at dterron@aol.com or by phone at (309)236-2145.
